Monument E / 506th PIR

The assault on the manoir de Brécourt took place on June 6, 1944 during Operation Albany during the Battle of Normandy. It is often cited as a classic example of an assault enabling a small unit to defeat a numerically superior force in a defensive position. The assault was so effective that today it is taught at the West Point Military Academy.
