Vielsalm Lake Memorial

Memorial consisting of several dedicated plaques:
Plaque 75th Infantry Division:

In mid-January 1945, the 75th U.S. Infantry Division liberated the region east of the Salm. The villages of Vielsalm, Grand-Halleux and Salmchâteau were liberated on January 15 - 16, 1945.
Fighting in extreme winter conditions against an enemy on the defensive and at bay, this division suffered enormous losses and many of these young soldiers gave their lives for the liberation of the Salm valley and its population.
Let us never forget and honor all the men of the 75th Infantry Division who fought in the Salm Valley in 1945.

With the deepest respect and gratitude to the American paratroopers who defended the Rencheux bridge and riverbank. In memory of their comrades who gave their lives to liberate Belgium, for our peace and for our freedom.
