Camp de Gurs Memorial

After the armistice of June 22, 1940, signed with Germany by the French government under Pétain, the camp was used as a mixed internment camp for Jews of all nationalities - except French - captured and deported by the Nazi regime to countries under its control (Germany, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands)2. Nearly 4,000 Jews were transferred to the Drancy camp between August 6, 1942 and March 3, 1943, then to the Auschwitz camp in Poland, where almost all were executed. Source Wikipedia
