In memory of the inhabitants of Neufchateau and Mortroux, who welcomed into their homes, and into their hearts the young soldiers of the 740 th Tank Battalion, US Army in November and December 1944, as well as to the battalion members who gave their lives during the Battle of the Bulge, the Rhine and Central Europe campaigns from  December 19, 1944 to May 8, 1945 under the command of Lt.Col. George K. Rubel.
May they never be forgotten
