Marcel Bouguen

Marcel Bouguen, born in Le Faou in 1920, regularly resided with his cousins Marie and Antoinette in the Penquer district of Plabennec. After completing his studies at Lesneven college, he chose to enlist in the air force in November 1939, then joined the Free French Forces on June 21, 1940, and headed for England.
In recognition of his many feats of arms, Marcel Bouguen was honored with the war crosswith six palms. At just 23, he was promoted to the rank of captain, with six confirmed victories and three other aircraft seriously damaged to his credit. Sadly, Marcel Bouguen died on March 9, 1944.
Initially buried in Yorkshire, England, his body was repatriated in 1948 and now rests in the Boismoreau cemetery in Vannes.
