Demay Gestapo house

Today the Square of Gestapo Victims, the Demay house was a beautiful bourgeois home requisitioned by the Gestapo services during the occupation.
Many resistance fighters were interrogated and tortured there, such as
Jacques Détrés FFI, tortured and died in prison on December 30, 1943.
Raoul Cholet, FTP, died after absorbing a cyanide capsule on December 8, 1943

A commemorative plaque recalls the facts.
Francais!!
Never forget that during four years of occupation (1940-1944), the Gestapo tortured hundreds of patriots in this building.
They suffered, they died in defense of your freedom.
After liberation, the house was used by American troops and then by the FFI.
