Stele unveiled on November 11, 2023 in honor of Henri Grimaud, born in Saint Jean en Royans on December 10, 1917. He began his flying career in Romans. On July 25, 1938, he obtained his military pilot's license at the Ambérieu school. In May and June 1940, he was posted to the 7th Wing at Dijon, where he scored 5 victories and 4 probable victories. On November 25, he was promoted to second lieutenant following his training at the Naval Officers School in Salon-de-Provence.

In September 1943, he joined the Resistance (Réseau Andromède-Athéné section Zéphir). Still a soldier, he was assigned to the Guet company no. 33/71 on November 18, 1943, in Privas, Ardèche. After a leave ending on June 29, 1944, he did not rejoin his unit and was declared a deserter on July 15.

Henri Grimaud helped organize the Vassieux-en-Vercors airfield and set up its defense, and was wounded on July 14 during the bombardment of Vassieux. He was killed in the fighting at Vassieux on July 21, 1944, while protecting the retreat of the workers who were building the airfield.

A stele has been erected in his memory on the Vassieux “plain”, where he fell.
