Richemont Farm

In June 1944, agroup of FFI (Forces françaises de l'intérieur), made up of young men between the ages of 17 and 23, retreated to a abandoned farm at a place called Richemont, near Saucats in Gironde. They are attacked on July 14 by members of the German Gestapo and the French Militia. The farm is destroyed and almost all the maquisards are killed.
13 resistance fighters installed in La ferme de Richemont are surrounded and massacred with cannon by around fifty militiamen and forty Germans from various Bordeaux corps (Douaniers, SD and Gendarmerie) supported by a column of artillery. A fourteenth member of the Resistance was shot at Fort du Hâ. They were between 17 and 23 years old.
