Crash P38 Lightning Cesson-Sévigné

Stele in memory of the American pilot of the Lockheed P38 Lightning from the 392nd Fighter Squadron, 367th Fighter Group of the 9th US Army Air Force:
Capt Joseph Edward Retting, shot down by FLAK on June 18, 1944. The plane crashed near the roundabout of Rue de Bray and Rue de la Fontaine in Cesson-Sévigné.

The second plane, also a P38 Lightning from the 402nd Fighter Squadron, 370th Fighter Group of the 9th US Army Air Force,

1st Lt Richard Nichols Berry, was shot down by FLAK on June 19, 1944, and crashed at the location known as La Baillarde in Cesson-Sévigné.
