Crash B-17 La Coulonche

Stele in tribute to members of the American crew of the B-17 Fortress from the 533rd Bomb Squadron of the 8th US Air Force Army, shot down by a Focke Wulf 190 and crashed at this location, known as Val de Vee, on July 4, 1943.
Four crew members died:
★Francis Edward Jr Owens, gunner, rests at the Ardennes American Cemetery  Plot A, Row 8, Grave 16
★George C Williams, bombardier, rests in the USA.
★Harry A Bauscher, gunner, rests in the USA.
★Albert G Wackerman, mechanic, Ardennes American Cemetery  Plot C, Row 14, Grave 40.

Three were taken prisoner and three others managed to escape.
