Position 262 north strategic location controlling the exit from the "couloir de la mort". Three days of intense fighting to physically close "the Falaise pocket". A place highly symbolic of the bravery of the Polish fighters.

The Bosq courtyard, at the exit of Death Row, sees several thousands of Germans converge in retreat. They regroup there, before crossing the last obstacle separating them from their lines. The General Meindl, commander of the 2 Parachute Corps whose mission is to achieve the breakthrough, has set up his PC here, and is trying to organize the exit. 

"262 North": the name given to this hill refers to the altitude carried on the Allied staff maps of the time. The Poles gave it the name Maczuga(the club), because of its shape, but also because of the impact that taking this position would have on the German army. For 3 days, the Poles on this hill, who controlled the exit from the "Corridor of Death", hindered and slowed the German retreat. Besieged from all sides, they resisted the German assaults to the point of exhaustion.
