At this location on June 6, 1944, 7 American paratroopers from the 507th Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division, who jumped from C47 #42-92382 far from their dropzone following an incident (accidental opening of a belly parachute in the aircraft) were taken prisoner by the Germans.
7 of them were summarily executed here with a shot to the back of the neck.
