American Military Cemetery

With 10,489 graves, it is the American cemetery in Europe with the most soldiers who died in the World War II Established to accommodate the remains of American victims of World War II, most of whom died during the conquest of the Rhine, it covers an area of forty-six hectares divided into nine symmetrical sections. The free use of the land was granted in perpetuity to the United States government by the French government.
