On the night of 13 August 1943, a British bomber returning from a mission against the Fiat car factories in Turin was cut off from its formation. It was spotted by the "Dackel" radio detection system at the Saint Jean de Boeuf base. At around 2.45 am, it was shot down by a Messerschmitt BF 110 night fighter based at Longvic and piloted by Captain Von Niebelschütz.
