Plaque 147th Field Regiment R.A.

Plaque in memory of the YEOMEN of l'Essex who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of Europe 1944-1945 and to perpetuate the memory of the regiment's landing on this beach on June 6, 1944. The 88mm gun at this location disabled 6 British tanks and delayed the offensive from the landing beaches before it was neutralized at a distance of 300 meters by a 25-pounder self-propelled gun from the ESSEX YEOMANRY under the command of Sergeant E.R. Palmer M.M.
