Château du Valle is a fortified castle located at the eastern end of the Braye du Valle channel, near Bordeaux Harbour. It was formerly known as "Château de Saint-Michel", due to the presence of the monks of the Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel, who had settled on the island of Guernsey since the 10th century. It later took the name "Valle" due to its location in the parish of Valle. During the Second World War, the German occupying forces reinforced the Valle castle with blockhouses. Source Wikipedia
