Beach bunker

This bunker, equipped with an 88mm cannon in 1944, is now the Vers sur mer nautical center.
This bunker was primarily designed to take the beach in enfilade, hence the characteristic three-quarter position of its armament in relation to the sea.
This orientation made it less vulnerable to attack from the open sea.
Yet it was from the sea that it fell.
A Sherman Crab tank equipped for mine clearance was immobilized on the beach and successfully concentrated its remaining firepower to neutralize the position.
