Luchs battery Ro 510

The German "Luchs" battery, coded Ro 510, located on the western flank of the ile d'Oléron, comprised five type 501 casemates, one type 502 casemate, one type 607 casemate, one type 627 artillery observation post, four type 669 casemates, tobruks and three 155mm OBs.

The island was liberated at the end of April 1945 during Operation Jupiter, marking the last battle of France.
