Nuremberg Palace of Justice

The building was chosen as the venue for the Nuremberg Trials (1945-1949) for the main surviving German war criminals of the World War II, as it was almost in good condition, quite large, and included a large adjoining prison.
The choice of the city of Nuremberg was symbolic as the Nazis had organized large Nuremberg rallies in the city, so as Nuremberg could have been seen as a kind of cradle of the Nazi party, it would also be where the party came to an end. The trials took place in courtroom no. 600, located in the east wing of the courthouse.
The courtroom is still in use, particularly for murder trials. At the end of the Nuremberg trials, the courtroom was renovated and is now smaller. A wall that had been removed during construction to create more space was rebuilt.
In addition, the judges' bench has been rotated 90 degrees and is no longer located in front of the window, but is where the witness box was placed during trials.
Since 2000, Courtroom 600 can be visited by tourists on weekends.
