Robert, born 1919, Technical-Sergeant, was in the 505th Airborne Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division
Preston, born 1915, 2nd Lieutenant belonged to the 22nd Regiment of the 4th Infantry Division.
And finally the eldest: Edward, born 1912, Sergeant and radio operator and machine gunner in a bomber of the US Air Army Forces.

Edward is missing, presumed dead, following the crash of his bomber on May 16, 1944 in the Pacific. -
Preston disembarked on June 6, 1944and was killed the next day.
Robert was killed on June 6, 1944 too, after repelling a German counterattack at Neuville-au-Plain volunteering to cover his brothers-in-arms' retreat to Sainte Mère Eglise.
Père Françis Samson, chaplain of the 101st Airborne Division will start the administrative procedures for Frederick, the last of the 4 brothers, to be repatriated to the United States.
Frederick returns to the USA to complete his service. After Japan's surrender, Frederick learned that Edward had not died, but was a prisoner of the Japanese.
This story reminds us of the film Saving Private Ryan by Steven Spielberg, who actually used it as inspiration for his feature film.
